Sea Monster Skeleton Excavation Kit - Elamosaurus
Use the hammer and chisel provided to dig and discover the Elasmosaur embedded in the rock matrix. Excavate and piece together the Plesiosaur bones.
Elasmosaurus was a great Plesiosaur that lived in the late Cretaceous Period 80 million years ago. It had an extraordinary neck made up of over 70 vertebrae. The head was very small and the jaws had very sharp teeth. It is thought that the Elasmosaur "fished" with its neck out of the water watching closely for fish to feed on. Once it located the fish, its long neck sprang out like a whip and its prey fell victinm to its sharp teeth. This species is also thought by some to be the loch-ness monster (an animal reported to have been seen in recent times, swimming at dusk in the fog around this great scottish loch).
